W Prague will feature 161 rooms and suites, a rooftop bar and an outdoor terrace, the perfect location for style-savvy locals and guests to enjoy sweeping cityscape views and a fabulous cocktail and culinary experience. The hotel will feature the W Lounge, the brand’s spin on the hotel lobby, along with several restaurants and bars and some ultra-modern event space. In addition, guests are invited to experience the indoor WET pool deck, FIT fitness center and AWAY Spa. Throughout the hotel, the brand’s unique Whatever/Whenever service is always available, delivering whatever they want, whenever they want it. W is a destination, more than a hotel. JOB SUMMARY

Music is a key passion for the brand and an integral part of the W experience. The music experience is brought to life in our marketing activations, through our digital and social channels, and most importantly, as part of the guest experience in W Living Rooms/W Lounges around the world. The Music Curator role provides an opportunity for us to place greater focus on elevating this experience on-property, in an authentic way. The vibe of our Living Rooms/W Lounges is a critical part of keeping the energy of the brand alive. Guests arriving and departing or passing through the Living Room are exposed to this energy, and those attending W Happenings experience it first-hand. The associated buzz and word of mouth from the right vibe is an important part of telling the story of the brand, and retaining its attractiveness to guests and developers alike is essential. Additionally, it is also the Music Curator's responsibility to be the representative of W Prague amongst local music patrons, as well as bringing in local DJs to play at the hotel. Music is a key part of the energetic atmosphere of the W Lounge/Living Room and having a Music Curator in place will enable us to deliver the W experience more consistently and most effectively.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

The Music Curator will play an integral role in developing a long-term sustainable approach to activating the Passion Point of Music at the property level. Having a greater understanding of the local music scene, this role will oversee and drive energy behind music at the property on a day-to-day basis. High-level responsibilities will include managing music programming (such as DJ sourcing and scheduling), assisting with W Happenings planning, and being the face and voice of the hotel’s passion for music.

The Music Curator should have a consistent presence in the hotel, to work on creative and strategic projects for the hotel, including selecting and scheduling talent for live music W Happenings, booking DJs for regular music programming, and working with departments within the hotel to provide additional music touch points throughout the guest and customer experience that are in line with the brand’s sonic identity. Another part is to perform as a DJ and spin as part of regular music programming.

The Music Curator will report to the Director of Marketing and should have creative meetings with Marketing and B&F teams to discuss and develop ongoing music programming. The Music Curator should liaise with the W Insider to provide insight into local music happenings. addition to maintaining existing relationships, the Music Curator may need to spend some time outside of the hotel to further build networks and connections. The Music Curator should be the point person for negotiating fees with talent and DJs and is expected to properly manage hotel budgets dedicated to music programming.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Must be able to DJ him/herself.

  • Music Producer/Production experience preferred.

  • Excellent networking and communications skills

  • Excellent and in-depth knowledge of the local music scene.

  • Connections and strong network with local tastemakers in the music community.

  • Expert in communicating through all relevant social media mediums, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and have substantial following.

  • Versatile background and experience that extend beyond DJ’ing (e.g., entertainment, PR, marketing)

  • A genuine personal interest in lifestyle events and information that is close to W’s core values and brand positioning (beyond solely music)

  • Excellent communication and organization skills

  • Basic computer skills, preferably including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Photoshop/InDesign a plus)

  • English and Czech language is required.
