Director, Software QA Engineering is a 2nd level manager responsible for the complete SW test and QA organization in the Biometric BU. He manages multiple QA teams, lead by their managers or team leads, in several worldwide locations. He plans, directs, coordinates and monitors activities of QA teams to achieve business goals in the area of Software Engineering.

As our Director, Software QA Engineering , you'll support HID's success by:

• Develop and manage high performance cohesive QA teams to ensure the quality of our software products
• Through your teams, ensure a proper test coverage in multiple software areas (firmware, SDKs, mobile apps, server apps) using both manual and automated QA approaches
• Closely cooperate with the SW Engineering Managers responsible for the development of software your team tests, coordinate with them the QA activities and time plans and ensure the development work is not unnecessarily delayed
• Carefully plan the utilization of your resources to be able to service multiple software projects running in parallel, with the respect to different demand to resources in different lifecycle phases of these projects
• Monitor and report progress against plans, providing early warnings of slippage
• As a guardian of quality facilitate the approval process of all software releases
• Formulate and define team objectives, goals and quality metrics, communicate these and measure progress against them
• Develop, maintain and improve testing infrastructure. Direct key QA architecture and infrastructure decisions
• Measure performance and facilitate culture of continuous improvement
• Onboard and tutor new managers/team leads and identify their training requirements
• Take care of the personal development of your managers and team members What we will love about your background:
• Proven ability and experience to lead a software QA team at least on the level of a single team manager. And experience with leading multiple teams as a 2nd level manager is preferred
• Knowledge and experience of state-of-the-art test methodologies, techniques and quality metrics
• Working knowledge of bug/defect tracking and software versioning programs
• Experience with leading both manual and automated QA
• Knowledge and experience with testing multiple types of software (firmware, SDKs, mobile apps, server apps)
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle and Agile development methodology
• Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner
• Organizational skills, ability to plan resources
• Systematic, organized, conscientious person

• Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must
• Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability Your Experience and Education include:
• Master's Degree in Engineering or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Software QA manager
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.
• Working knowledge of Czech or Slovak is an advantage
• Practical knowledge of multiple automated QA technologies, ideally from several areas (firmware, SDKs, mobile apps, servers) (optional, but preferred)
• Have a hands-on technical experience with creating automated QA tests, ideally as a former SW developer (optional, but preferred)
• Have a knowledge of the software development at least in Python and knowledge of Linux and Windows. Knowledge of C, C++, Android and iOS is an advantage (optional, but preferred)
• Experience with Windows driver qualification (WHQL) (optional, but preferred)
• Experience with testing and qualification of PC peripherals or other electronic devices (optional, but preferred)
• Experience in development of biometric systems (optional, but preferred)
