What you'll do:

"Eaton is looking for a Specialist Engineer to join a corporate research department at the Eaton European Innovation Center in Prague, Czech Republic. This position will lead research and development in the field of Energy Systems and drive technology advancement in the areas of distributed energy management systems, grid inteligence, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, energy storage systems and alternative power generation and distribution.

Eaton Research Labs department is focused on development of new technologies for future Eaton products. We define, evaluate and test product concepts for a multitude of industrial applications from and test product concepts for a multitude of industrial applications from micro controller SW to megawatt-scale battery storage demonstrators.. You will join a group of experienced engineers and utilize your technical excellence to lead projects and teams towards innovative solutions through simulations analysis, mechanical design, technology development and demonstration of cutting edge concepts. Together with your colleagues from different engineering fields and from various countries, you will make what matters work and help Eaton solve critical problems and uncover new business opportunities."

"The successful candidate will perform leading roles in technology projects and other activities - driving emerging power conversion & power system solutions based on breakthrough technologies for industrial, automotive, truck, and aerospace applications. He/she will also over see definition of digital twins, advanced control, optimization; protection algorithms and real-time simulation frameworks.

The typical agenda and responsibilities include:


• Initiate innovative technology development and drive a strategic approach


• Drive architecture studies, protection and coordination, power flow analysis and control of power systems


• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and firmware engineers to successfully design and validate the design


• Create technical reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders


• Support team and work with external contributors (business divisions, universities and customers)


• Develop test cell facilities and related hardware


• Role-model ownership for the assigned projects, technically support junior colleagues


• Innovate, invent and secure critical intellectual properties by driving patent fillings

The Specialist Engineer will be responsible for both project execution in the region and strategic alignment with global portfolio managers."

Qualifications:

PhD. or Msc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of experience in energys systems domain, Team lead experience highly beneficial

Skills:

"- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: DER/EV management, EV charging infrastructure integration, battery and energy management systems, grid automation and control, grid reliability and resiliency, DC distribution and microgrid control

  • Expertise in integration of generation and storage technologies into demonstration sites
  • Advanced data analytics skills and control/reinforcement learning to address the emerging R&D challenges in modern energy systems
  • Modeling and simulation, Hardware in the loop (Matlab, PSCAD, Opal-RT, RTDS), Communication protocols (CAN, MODBUS, TCP/IP, MQTT)
  • Hands-on experience with field or lab testing of inverters, energy storage systems, power converters and controllers
  • Demostrated Program / Project Management skills
  • Experience in managing R&D team - either academic or corporate"
