Your mission

As a Data Engineer at BlueThrone, you'll build the foundation that powers insight across our fast-growing portfolio of apps. From designing scalable data pipelines to owning the tools and systems that turn analytics into action, you'll play a key role in helping teams make smarter decisions faster.

You'll collaborate closely with product, growth, marketing, and analytics teams to architect and maintain a high-quality data stack that supports millions of users worldwide.

This is a hands-on role where curiosity, autonomy, and execution are everything.

What you'll be doing

• Design and Scale Core Data Infrastructure
  
  Design, build, and maintain scalable, efficient data architectures tailored to support the fast-evolving needs of BlueThrone's growing portfolio of mobile apps.
  • Own the Full Data Lifecycle
    
    Take ownership of the end-to-end data journey - from extraction and transformation to storage, modeling, and analysis. Align data flows and systems with strategic business and product goals.
    • Advance Data Transformation and Modeling
      
      Lead the development of our data transformation layer using dbt, leveraging features like macros, testing, and reusable packages to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reusability across our models.
      • Build Reliable Pipelines and Automation
        
        Write clean, efficient Python code to power robust data pipelines, automated workflows, and internal tools that help teams access and act on data more effectively.
        • Deliver Actionable Insights through BI
          
          Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools - primarily using Metabase - to make complex data accessible and insightful for stakeholders across the organization.
          • Ensure Data Quality and Performance
            
            Establish and maintain high standards of data quality and reliability. Proactively monitor systems and pipelines to identify issues, improve performance, and ensure trust in our data.
            • Collaborate Cross-Functionally
              
              Partner with product, growth, and analytics teams to understand data needs, identify opportunities, and deliver solutions that drive real impact.
              • Elevate Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing
                
                Stay current with emerging data engineering trends and share learnings across the team - contributing to a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

We value builders with a passion for clean, efficient, and impactful data solutions. To thrive in this role, you'll need:

Core Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
  • 3+ years working with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience with dbt, including advanced usage of macros, testing frameworks, and packages.
      • Strong Python skills (3+ years), especially for data-related scripting and pipeline development.
        • 3+ years working with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
          • Solid experience building and maintaining BI dashboards and tools.
            • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points for

• Experience with Kafka, Airbyte, or RudderStack for real-time or batch data ingestion.
  • Familiarity with Metabase as a BI tool.
    • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.

The interview process 

1. Intro Call – Meet with our People team to discuss your background, motivation, and culture fit (30 mins).

2. Technical Interview – Deep dive into your skills, experience, and approach to data with our Data Lead (60 mins).

3. Final Interview – Strategic conversation with our CTO to explore your thinking, ownership, and leadership potential (45 mins).
