The Role of QA Engineer

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of our software and customer experience. This involves identifying and preventing defects from being introduced, thereby guaranteeing that our software meets the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluating User Story Requirements: Assess user story requirements for testability to ensure seamless integration with our software.
  • Driving QA Processes: Develop and improve QA processes, tools, and techniques to enhance the overall quality of our software.
  • Participating in Team Ceremonies: Engage in team planning, refinement, estimation, and daily stand-ups to foster collaboration and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Creating Comprehensive Test Cases: Design and develop thorough test cases, regression packs, manual, and automated tests to validate software functionality.
  • Ensuring Acceptance Criteria are Met: Verify that acceptance criteria are met through testing, either directly or via other stakeholders, UAT teams, user groups, or beta testers.
  • Exploratory Testing: Perform exploratory testing to identify defects or bugs from unexpected use cases.
  • Recording Defects: Document defects found in a clear and concise manner, including steps to reproduce.
  • Understanding Products and Services: Familiarize yourself with our products, services, and offerings, as well as their importance to our customers.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Analyzing Business Requirements: Translate business requirements into concrete, repeatable test cases.
  • Database and API Testing: Possess hands-on experience with database testing using SQL and API testing using tools like Postman, Insomnia, TestRail, X-Ray, or similar.
  • Basic Knowledge of Git: Familiarity with Git version control system.
  • Exposure to JIRA: Understanding of JIRA project management tool.
  • Acceptance Criteria Writing: Experience in writing, testing, and validating acceptance criteria.
  • Test Documentation: Ability to produce and maintain test documentation and other test artifacts.
  • Adept at Working with Stakeholders: Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders in agile teams.
