Senior Java Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Java Engineer to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in designing, developing, and operating distributed microservice systems written in Java and Spring Boot.

  • We are looking for someone with solid understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks. TDD and BDD practice are essential.
  • The ideal candidate should have practical experience with relational databases (Oracle, Postgres) and middleware (MQ,PubSub,Solace).
  • A background in Cloud (GCP preferred), Kubernetes, and Docker is required.
  • Candidates with knowledge of DevOps and Agile practices will be given preference.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring software is developed up to the highest standards matching modern software development principles: SOLID, KISS, DRY, YAGNI.
  • As part of our team, you will work closely with business counterparts to deliver high-throughput systems, from low latency trading applications to large Microservices platforms.

About the Project

Our technology department provides technology services and solutions for various businesses within HSBC. We create systems that enable transactions across multiple asset classes.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.
  • Contributing to the full life-cycle of the product, including problem discovery, prototyping, design, implementation, and measuring adoption as well as testing.
  • Ensuring test-driven development and implementing automated testing solutions.
  • Focusing on performance, availability, reliability, and security.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers and collaborating with global teams.
  • Supporting the platform: incident resolution, monitoring, problem management, root cause analysis.
  • Developing tooling to automate and optimize operations.
