About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Xebia, you will play a crucial part in designing and implementing scalable data solutions for our clients. Working closely with engineering, product, and data teams, your key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining data platforms and pipelines, mentoring new engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless data flow from various sources into the data lake and data warehouse.

Your expertise in GCP services, Apache Airflow, and data transformation using dbt will be instrumental in ensuring data integrity, consistency, and availability across all data systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for optimizing data storage and retrieval, monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines, and implementing data governance policies to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer who can take ownership of complex data engineering projects, develop documentation and standards for data processes, and work collaboratively with the team to drive innovation and excellence in data management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain large-scale data platforms and pipelines using GCP services and Apache Airflow
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data engineering best practices are integrated into the development process
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and availability across all data systems, including relational and NoSQL databases
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval to improve performance and scalability
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure high reliability and efficiency
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in a data engineering role with hands-on experience in building data processing pipelines
  • Expertise in GCP services, including Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Cloud Dataproc
  • Proficiency in Apache Airflow, including DAG creation, triggers, and workflow optimization
  • Strong Python proficiency with expertise in modern data libraries and frameworks (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, SQL)
  • Knowledge of data partitioning, batch configuration, and performance tuning for terabyte-scale processing
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes, including dbt for data transformation
  • Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling, and data warehousing concepts
  • Excellent command of oral and written English
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with ecommerce systems and their data integration
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
  • Understanding of machine learning and data analytics
  • Certification in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, etc.)
