Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Policy Expert to join our Global Finance team in HSBC Technology Poland. As a key member of our Integrity of Regulatory Reporting Programme, you will play a crucial role in supporting regulatory reporting teams across various locations and advising business lines on the impact of regulatory policies.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our global finance team and contribute to the development of regulatory interpretations and policy opinions. You will be responsible for reviewing and opining on existing and proposed regulatory policies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve problems, and ensuring consistent and accurate communications with regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Regulatory Reporting Teams: Work closely with our regulatory reporting teams in Paris, Krakow, London & India to interpret regulatory policies and advise on their impact on transactions, new products, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Develop Regulatory Interpretations: Lead the process to develop regulatory interpretations and policy opinions, including clear communication of the latest external regulatory developments to customers/stakeholders.
  • Ensure Compliance: Undertake line-by-line traceability mapping of regulatory articles to interpretations and advise implementation owners on regulations to facilitate compliant application & reporting.
  • Communicate Effectively: Ensure consistent and accurate communications with our regulators, including engagement with the Prudential Regulation Authority and industry trade bodies on regulatory policy and permissions topics.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Technical Knowledge: Proven ability to formulate and articulate defensible interpretations of ambiguous prudential regulatory rule text.
  • Prudential Regulations: Technical knowledge of prudential regulations as administered by key bodies and jurisdictions, e.g., The Basel Committee ('BCBS'), UK/PRA, EU, ECB, SRB, and EBA.
  • Accounting Skills: Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/CIMA) or similar educational qualification preferred.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong control mind-set with the ability to support other control functions who are responsible for ensuring regulatory requirements are followed and reported accurately.
