We're looking for a MongoDB Expert with a strong Scala background to join a high-impact project with one of our clients. This is an opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges in a system that's critical for the client's operations, while also shaping the long-term architecture.

 
About the Project

Our client operates around 30 microservices built in Scala, all using MongoDB Scala Driver as their primary database. The system currently relies heavily on transactions across multiple collections, which has led to:

  • ~1 million MongoDB sessions open simultaneously 
  • Terminated transactions due to overload 
  • Severe performance issues with queues of up to 2–4 hours 

The client recognizes this approach isn't sustainable and wants to fix the short-term issues while also redesigning the long-term architecture.

 

Long-term goals:

  • Redesign the shared data model across 30 services to eliminate the need for transactions 
  • Provide guidance and hands-on support in implementing a scalable, transaction-free architecture 
  • Potentially tune and optimize MongoDB for high-performance workloads
