In addition to your leadership duties, you will play a pivotal role in talent development within the team. Your results-oriented approach will focus on delivering tangible outcomes that contribute to the success of OCI's critical infrastructure initiatives. 
 

We're building next-generation distributed systems in the cloud. To succeed in this role, you'll need prior cloud experience (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP) and the ability to apply it to complex, large-scale environments.

Responsibilities

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

- Own a high scale, massively distributed cloud scale service handling billons of transactions

- Provide leadership, direction and strategy for a team of senior engineers 

- Manage and deliver on a large portfolio of key OCI initiatives 

- Develop a prioritized roadmap of products, features and engineering asks 

- Drive the delivery of roadmap commitments on time with high quality 

- Work closely with a variety of stakeholders (other OCI teams, Oracle Corp teams, product management) to ensure cross-organizational dependencies are managed effectively

- Provide regular updates to executive management 

- Monitor the health of the services in the OCI fleet and drive solutions to problems before they impact Cloud capacity and availability

Your responsibilities will include setting up development pipelines and deploying applications into development, test, and production environments. You will develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and work with Kubernetes for container orchestration and scaling of distributed applications.

Qualifications: - 

A BS or MS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. 

- 5+ years of experience in people management, with a proven track record in managing large-scale critical service. 

- Demonstrated expertise in distributed systems, messaging domains (Kafka, RabbitMQ), Kubernetes eco system 

- Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit very strong engineering talent 

- Demonstrated expertise in project management, dealing with competing priorities and able to manage multiple projects 

- Sustainably scale systems through tooling and automation

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences including senior leadership 

- Results and driven; thrives in a development environment that is agile, collaborative, and in start-up mode, even when faced with ambiguity and competing priorities
