In-House U.S. Tax Consultant - Prague

Job Summary:

We are seeking an ambitious Tax Specialist to join our internal team to specialize in US Tax matters in Prague, Czech Republic. This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's U.S. tax obligations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with finance, legal, and external advisors to mitigate tax risks and identify opportunities for efficiency.

We do not require any previous experience with the US tax system. Instead, internal and external training will be provided to understand the main principles, which should be sufficient to manage day-to-day tax operations, while the external US Tax consultant will be responsible for finalization of US tax returns and the filings.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Tax, the position will be responsible for:

• Oversee and review preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local tax filings, including corporate income tax, sales/use tax, and other applicable taxes.
• Prepare supporting data from SAP for each type of tax, perform internal checks as per defined internal procedures, submit the data to external US Tax consultant, investigate items detected by tax consultant (with necessary support from accounting and other functions), follow up with the US Tax consultant until the final tax return filing and payment.
• Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance across all U.S. jurisdictions where the company operates.
• Liaise with US Tax consultant on changes in U.S. tax legislation and assess their impact on the company's operations.
• Support internal audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
• Maintain and improve internal tax processes and controls.
• Contribute to tax provision calculations for financial reporting under IFRS.
• Support cross-border tax matters in coordination with international tax teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation (Master's or JD preferred).
• 3 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably Big 4 experience or large corporate environment.
• An understanding of U.S. federal and state tax laws, including corporate income tax and indirect taxes will be advantageous, but not required (internal and external trainings will be provided)
• Willingness to learn technical setup influencing tax treatment in SAP and relevant tax reports (e.g. SAP tax codes, SAP tax determinations).  Training will be provided.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication in English (written and spoken) and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with international tax.
• Familiarity with ASC 740 and tax accounting principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
