This role is part of Aon Impact Forecasting team, a team of scientists, developers and client services colleagues together developing and supporting catastrophe models for various perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, wildfire or terrorism.

We are seeking a technically skilled candidate for the development of catastrophe models, with a particular focus on flood vulnerability

What the day will look like

  • Study concepts and review scientific literature on flood vulnerability and property damage quantification.
  • Collect, sort, and compare vulnerability functions, assess their physical characteristics, and impact on financial loss estimates.
  • Analyze individual insurance claims for vulnerability calibration.
  • Manage data in spreadsheets and databases.
  • Collaborate with model developers and colleagues.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • University student of civil/structural engineering or a related field.
  • Technical approach, ability to quickly learn new things and concepts.
  • Proficient English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming language to automate tasks (R, Python, or others), basics of SQL or other relational database as well as GIS/CAD is a plus.
