Apify downloads billions of web pages from all over the world for science, market research, and finding lost children. We give AI chatbots the context to interact intelligently, and we're making AI agents an integral part of the Apify platform.

We're looking for a UX writer to craft clear, intuitive copy across the Apify platform. Your main focus will be on improving and standardizing copy in Apify Console. You'll make sure every button, label, tooltip, and message helps users understand what to do next. While the focus is UX clarity, you'll care about business outcomes like activation and feature adoption, not just usability.

When we say UX writer, we're not looking for someone who churns out bland corporate UI text. We want a writer who understands that good microcopy is invisible. It guides users through complex workflows without making them think. You'll take confusing interface copy and make it simple, all while keeping Apify's voice engaging and human.

What you'll be working on:

• You'll be part of the marketing team, reporting to the Head of Content, and working closely with Product, Design, Enablement, Engineering, and the developers responsible for Apify Console.
• Write and refine microcopy across Apify Console and the Apify platform. This includes buttons, labels, tooltips, error messages, empty states, onboarding flows, and all in-app messaging. Your goal is to make every interaction clear and helpful.
• Collaborate with Product Designers and Product Managers to shape features from concept to launch. You'll bring a copy perspective to design decisions and advocate for users at every stage, clarifying confusing workflows through copy before design is finalized.
• Create microcopy for in-app marketing like feature announcements, upgrade prompts, and banners, balancing user experience with business goals.
• Help establish and maintain UX writing standards for the Apify platform. You'll develop and evolve the UX style guide, voice, and tone guidelines.
• Work with developers to implement copy changes, tracking and managing content updates as you go.
• Use data and user feedback to test and iterate on your copy, making sure it's not just clear but actually works for users.

They say there are no perfect candidates, but you might be the one if you have:

• You have 5+ years of experience in UX writing. Ideally, you've worked on a SaaS product, web app, or platform where you owned microcopy for complex workflows like multi-step forms, error handling systems, or onboarding flows. You know how to make technical concepts accessible while progressively building user understanding, so users learn and grow more capable as they use the product. You have a portfolio that shows how your words improved the user experience. Be ready to show us what you wrote and why it made things better.
• You understand UX design principles and know how to collaborate with designers and product teams. You've used tools like Figma and can hold your own in design conversations.
• You have experience in a technical environment and are comfortable working with developers. You'll be expected to use GitHub and need to communicate effectively with the developers who are building the features you're writing for.
• Fluent English (C2 level) that translates into clear, concise copy with no typos, no jargon, and no clunky phrasing.
• We use AI extensively at Apify, and we expect you to as well. You use AI to work faster, not to avoid thinking, shaping its outputs to serve your vision rather than accepting defaults.

What we expect from you in the first six months:

Your first priority is to understand how users interact with the Apify platform and Console, learn common workflows and pain points, and build relationships with the Product Engineering teams you'll collaborate with daily. You'll also get familiar with Apify's most popular Actors and key use cases.

While you're part of the Content team, your day-to-day work will be deeply embedded with Product, Design, and Enablement. You'll join design reviews, collaborate on feature development, and work directly with the developers responsible for Apify Console. Your goal will be to make UX copy an essential part of the design process for the Apify platform. You'll stay connected to the Content team for brand voice alignment, style standards, and overall content strategy. You should spend most of your onboarding in the Prague office to meet everyone and build these cross-team relationships.

As you grow into the role, you'll have the autonomy to identify and build relationships with whoever can help you succeed. This might be engineering leads, the CTO, or unexpected partners across Apify.

By the end of the 1st month, we expect you to:

• You'll get oriented on Apify culture, values, and how the various teams work together.
• Get familiar with Apify tools, processes, and workflows. We use Notion, Slack, Figma, GitHub, and a range of other tools. Experience with these will help you fit in quickly.
• Complete a technical onboarding demo to become familiar with the Apify platform and Apify Actors.
• Audit existing copy across Apify Console to identify inconsistencies, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.
• Make your first copy improvements and build relationships with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

By the end of the first 3 months, we expect you to:

• Take full ownership of UX writing across Apify Console and in-app messaging. You'll handle planning, priorities, and execution.
• Implement systematic copy changes that improve consistency across key user journeys like onboarding, Actor creation, and error flows.
• Develop and begin rolling out UX writing standards and guidelines for the Apify platform.
• Use data, user feedback, and A/B testing to refine your copy.
• Become fully involved in the process,

From month 3 onwards, we expect you to:

• Scale your impact beyond Console to other platform touchpoints and in-app marketing initiatives.
• Establish UX writing as an essential part of the product development process, influencing decisions at the design stage.
• Influence product strategy through user-centered copy recommendations backed by research and data.
• Mentor team members on UX writing best practices and establish yourself as the go-to expert for all UX writing and platform copy decisions.

By following this timeline, you'll establish yourself as a key contributor to the Content team and own the UX writing function across the Apify platform.
