Job Posting: Cost Accountant – EAME Region

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will be responsible for managing the accounting of service contracts with our customers located across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME).

This is a critical position within a multinational company like Solar Turbines, requiring strong technical accounting expertise, independence, and analytical thinking. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with both local accountants in the EAME region and the Operations team responsible for customer contracts and relationships.

An initial training period will be provided to ensure a solid understanding of Solar's business model, service contracts, and accounting practices and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cost accounting for service contracts, including monthly financial close activities
  • Prepare or support monthly revenue and margin analysis
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts related to contract liabilities (e.g., customer advances, deferred revenues)
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for both Solar Turbines and Caterpillar
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with the accounting team, including headquarters in San Diego, to ensure alignment and information sharing

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) are a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Infor
