Our client, a leading European ICT group, is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (Puppet) to support a long-term assignment within the ICT Operations and Infrastructure (Platform Services) domain.

The role focuses on ensuring configuration management across multiple ICT environments, maintaining and enhancing the Puppet Enterprise infrastructure, and supporting teams in adopting configuration automation practices.

  • Operate and maintain the Puppet Enterprise infrastructure within a highly secure environment.
  • Ensure compliance of servers with agreed policies (e.g., resolving unresponsive or no-op nodes).
  • Support other teams in adopting and implementing Puppet Enterprise for configuration management.
  • Regularly upgrade Puppet software to remain within one version of the latest release.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements and refactoring of the Puppet Enterprise environment.
  • Enhance the process for agent upgrades and task dependencies.
  • Strengthen the overall security posture of the Puppet Enterprise setup.

Requirements

  • Education: 3 years of university education + 10 years of professional experience or 4 years of university education + 9 years of professional experience.
  • Mandatory Professional Experience
  • 9+ years of experience in ICT (e.g., as developer, system administrator, software engineer, infrastructure engineer, DevOps engineer, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience working in an international/multi-cultural environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with IT operations and Linux/Unix Administration, preferably Red Hat 8+.
  • 5+ years of experience in Puppet based configuration management design/architecture, development/configuration and deployment/administration, preferably on Red Hat 8+.
  • Excellent knowledge of Puppet Enterprise-based configuration management design/architecture, development/configuration and deployment/administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of DevOps principles and best practices (continuous delivery, continuous integration, continuous deployment, use of automation to improve efficiency, feedback loops, fail fast, etc.).
  • Puppet Enterprise Certification.
  • Participation in 3+ projects involving Puppet Enterprise-based solutions on Linux/Unix (or equivalent large project experience).
  • Participation in 2+ projects involving server automation (deployment) and standardization through scripting (e.g., Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience working with an Agile methodology, preferably SCRUM.
  • Desirable:
  • RHCSA/RHCE Certification.
