The Trading Analyst is responsible for sale of ancillary services to energy market operators and transmission system operators (TSO). A lot of decisions are based on assumptions, forecasts and evaluation of probabilities of various scenarios. A plan for optimal production of power plants and renewables is elaborated for each day and takes into consideration technical availability and capacity of ancillary service contracts. The Trading Analyst has knowledge of the energy market, operation of power plants and understands the functioning of the market for ancillary services in detail. Trading commodities stemming from assets requirements (e.g. hedging), with the objective of ensuring optimal placement of their production on external markets. The primary trading instructions come from the company LEAG. Additionally, involvement in other projects as instructed by the supervisor, such as evaluating the potential for automated options trading.

What will be your responsibilities:

• Active trading of commodities on the market
• Monitoring and analysis of market trends
• Development of trading strategies balancing profit and risk
• Active bidding for ancillary service contracts
• Active cooperation while creating optimization processes and bidding strategies and their optimization
• Configuration of new production assets and portfolios in optimization tools
• Active cooperation on new projects
• Performance of other duties relating to the agreed type of work specified in more detail by the instructions of the manager

What do we expect from you:

• Completed university education, ideally in the field of electrical engineering or IT, mathematical or physics disciplines or economics
• Prior experience in the energy sector and commodities trading is a great advantage
• Experienced user of MS Office (in particular MS Excel)
• Basics of programming languages - ideally Python
