We're growing qTest, the platform testers use to organize their work, into a faster, more reliable, and easier-to-use SaaS product. It's already trusted by over 70,000 users, and the Postgress DB handles more 4000 OPS and stores 13 TB of data.
You'll have significant influence over how we turn our database operations into a more automated, resilient system. The role starts with hands-on management of a complex PostgreSQL setup and will evolve toward performance optimization, automation, and architecture improvements. Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain production PostgreSQL clusters on AWS RDS
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and incidents
  • Design and optimize schemas, indexes, and queries for performance and scalability
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, maintenance, and optimization tasks
  • Build and maintain observability and alerting (Datadog)
  • Support ad-hoc data operations (queries, updates, reports) and gradually automate them
  • Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and other teams to drive systematic improvements with a high degree of autonomy
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing large-scale PostgreSQL systems in production
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals
  • Skilled at identifying root causes of performance degradation
  • Experience with automation and scripting
Nice to Have
  • Experience with AWS RDS or Aurora
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Terraform
  • Background in data migration or schema redesign projects
  • Experience scaling databases for SaaS or multi-tenant systems
  • Understanding of Java application stacks (Hibernate or similar ORM frameworks)
