We are seeking an accomplished Big Data Engineer to join our team in a dynamic project for a leading client. The successful candidate will work on designing, building, and improving Big Data solutions that support key business processes using modern technologies and best engineering practices.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in Python or Scala programming with at least 2 years of commercial experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies, including Spark, Hadoop, and data warehouse principles.
  • Knowledge of good engineering practices, including design standards, data modeling techniques, coding, documentation, testing, and implementation.
  • Experience with various data formats: JSON, Parquet, ORC, Avro.
  • Understanding database types and usage scenarios, e.g., Hive, Kudu, HBase, Iceberg.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience in integrating data from multiple data sources.
  • Knowledge of tools for building projects/applications, e.g., Maven.

It would be advantageous to have:

  • Practical knowledge of Agile processes and tools, such as Jira, Confluence, Kanban, Scrum, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Kubeflow platform.
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies and tools like Kafka, Apache NiFi.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD automation.

The role involves:

  • Designing and maintaining data pipelines and applications using Python or Scala.
  • Working with Apache Spark and other Big Data tools to process large amounts of data.
  • Applying data warehouse principles to keep data well-structured and reliable.
  • Following good engineering practices: clear code, proper testing, documentation, and clean design.
  • Handling different data formats like JSON, Parquet, ORC, and Avro.
  • Writing and improving SQL queries to work with data efficiently.
  • Combining data from different sources into a single system.
