We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our Data Science Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with experience working as a ML Engineer or Software Engineer.

About the Role

  • Deliver scalable products that improve how we serve our customers and run our operations.
  • Work with engineers, data scientists, product managers, systems engineers, and analytics professionals to deliver valuable and innovative outcomes for our customers.

About the Team

  • We build and run Tesco's data platforms, architect and engineer data onto these platforms, provide capabilities and tools to the analytics community across Tesco, and develop data products at scale.
  • We work on a broad range of projects, spanning supply chain, logistics, store and online, including Operations Optimizations, Commercial Decision Support, Online, and Intelligent Edge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside data scientists to help with tool development, code optimization, and deployment of solutions in cloud and big-data environments.
  • Participate in group discussions on system design and architecture.
  • Communicate technical requirements with product teams.
  • Deliver high-quality code and solutions, bringing them into production.
  • Perform code reviews to optimize technical performance.
  • Support production systems, resolve incidents, and perform root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills, with experience in different programming languages and good grasp of Python.
  • Awareness of emerging MLOps practices and tooling, such as feature stores and model lifecycle management.
  • Experience working with open-source data science environments and knowledge of common data structures and algorithms.
  • Understanding of open-source big-data technologies, such as Apache Spark.
  • Experience building solutions that run in the cloud, ideally Azure.
  • Experience with software development methodologies, including Scrum & Kanban.
