Design the Future of Energy Transmission

In this role, you will be part of our global R&D organization working on the development of next-generation technologies in HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) that enable the transmission of electricity over long distances and via submarine cables.

You will work on a specific development project critical to Hitachi Energy's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as our business grows and evolves.

We are looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas to make the power grid greener and smarter. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of semiconductor-based HVDC and SVC converter valves.

You will get a broad network of contacts within Hitachi Energy's global organization and a good insight into how we work in different functions at Hitachi Energy.

Our team is responsible for the development of converter stations and other power electronic sub-systems, and we're looking for someone to take a leading role in taking new ideas from concept design through prototyping and verification.

About the Role
  • Participate in the full design cycle of next-generation HVDC control and protection systems based on FPGA modules from world-class vendors.
  • Scout applicable solutions based on project requirements, having real impact on requirements and final solutions.
  • Develop, simulate, and validate using VHDL + ModelSim + VUnit.
  • Contribute to continuous integration processes.
  • Prototype and test on real HW in modern laboratories.
Your Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Electronics/Control Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in FPGA/ASIC design & simulation in VHDL/(and/or Verilog).
  • Good understanding of synchronous design, time constraining, and static timing analysis.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, prototyping, and testing.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on your qualifications and experience.
