Embedded Software Engineer for SINUMERIK

At our Siemens Foundational Technologies R&D Center we are focused on product development including software development, hardware development, mechanical design and testing for the next generation concept of Industry 4.0.

Project information:
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of communication software for the SINUMERIK product family - Siemens' advanced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) system designed to automate and control machine tools.
In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the maintenance, development, and integration of communication software into target products. This work is conducted in collaboration with international development teams based in Germany, Hungary, India, and China.

Your task will be:

• Take ownership of existing communication components
• Maintain, design, and implement new features
• Develop unit tests and ensure proper software documentation
• Ensure software meets defined quality standards and requirements
• Collaborate with colleagues on code design, reviews, and analysis
• Assist our service team in investigating potential issues reported by customers
• Proactively contribute ideas to improve current systems and processes
• Independently drive tasks and manage your own workload effectively
• Actively participate in knowledge sharing within the team

What we will appreciate from you:

• Extensive professional experience in developing communication stacks using C/C++ is essential
• Proficient in network protocols, including TCP, UDP, DHCP, and SSH
• Experience with Linux, Fieldbus systems and PLC is considered an asset
• Good knowledge of real-time operating system fundamentals
• Experienced in source code management using Git
• Prior experience working with large and complex codebases is considered an advantage
• Familiarity with Azure Pipelines and (CI/CD) practices
• Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Fluency in English; German is considered an advantage
