As a Data Scientist/Researcher, you will join an international team of data scientists and data engineers to help build machine learning-based cloud solutions. Our team works on real-world problems for SAP's customers, especially in intelligent document processing, such as extracting information from documents using AI. You will have the opportunity to work with large, interesting datasets and learn about both traditional and modern AI techniques, including the latest in Generative AI (GenAI). You'll also learn about best practices for building reliable and scalable AI solutions.

What you'll do

• Implement machine learning and GenAI algorithms, including large language models (LLMs) and transformers.
• Support the team in developing and testing AI solutions using real data.
• Assist in monitoring and improving the performance of our AI models by following MLOps best practices, such as automated testing and model versioning, with guidance from senior team members.
• Collaborate with different teams (Developers, Product Managers, and stakeholders) to help deliver high-quality AI products.

What you bring

• Knowledge of AI and data science, with an interest in deep learning and GenAI (e.g., LLMs, transformers).
• Experience with Python and machine learning libraries such as Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch (coursework or personal projects welcome).
• Experience with MLOps tools and practices (e.g., Docker, CI/CD pipelines, model monitoring).
• Analytical thinking, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow.
• Awareness of ethical and privacy considerations in AI.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Tech you bring

• Familiarity with Python and basic ML libraries (e.g., Scikit Learn, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers).
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Experience with prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and GenAI evaluation.
• Basic knowledge of MLOps tools and frameworks.
• Problem-solving mindset.
