QE Automation Engineer

Job Description

Join our Quality Engineering Department at SUSE, where we ensure the highest standards for our Linux product family. We're seeking a skilled professional to contribute to our quality assurance and engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance automation tools for Linux products, including those running in public clouds
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test cases for our Linux offerings
  • Coordinate test planning and execution within a global, distributed team
  • Conduct unit and system testing to improve test coverage
  • Collaborate with development teams to build and maintain test infrastructure
  • Gather test requirements from QA, development, and product management
  • Participate in test planning and management
  • Perform manual exploratory and ad-hoc testing when needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of software QA, development lifecycle, test automation, and methodologies
  • Experience in software development or QA automation
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python, or Shell) or programming languages
  • Extensive Linux knowledge and familiarity with Linux administration
  • Expertise in incident and test management
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working in virtual, distributed environments
  • Familiarity with large projects and complex build systems (Open Build Service experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, CI principles, and fast-delivery environments

Specialized Experience: We're looking for candidates with expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Container technologies
  • Kernel development or testing (LTP knowledge preferred)
  • Virtualization
  • Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
