About Power Electronics at Hitachi Energy
Power Electronics in Hitachi Energy has over 100 years of history, from development and manufacturing of Mercury-Arc Valves to pioneering power semiconductor manufacturing. We have committed to Net-Zero in the 2050 strategy, focusing R&D development to deliver technologies which support achieving The Carbon-Neutral Future. Our Power Electronics team develops new efficient solutions for integrating renewables, providing energy storage, improving power quality, and enabling green transportation & eMobility solutions.
Your Role
You will be part of a small, cross-functional team of highly skilled engineers consisting of Power Electronics, Control Engineers, HW Electronics, and Mechanical Engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop a new breakthrough modular converter platform based on wide bandgap semiconductors (e.g. SiC) for a range of grid and DC applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative power electronic converters using simulation tools such as Simulink and Spice
- Evaluate and select suitable semiconductors, passive components, and protection concepts for high-performance applications
- Collaborate with global R&D teams to push the technology boundaries in terms of efficiency, size, and operational performance
- Maintain measurement test setups to verify performance, efficiency, and robustness of developed products
- Contribute to solving technical challenges related to EMC/EMI, thermal management, and safety
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in Electrical Engineering or related field. You should have experience with power electronic converters, simulation tools, and laboratory equipment. A collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and fluency in written and spoken English are essential for this role.
