Who you are

• Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services.
• You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience, contributing to the development of full-stack web applications and/or distributed systems.
• You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices.
• Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment.
• A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar.
• Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous.
• Proficient in English.

Bonus Points

• Hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for AWS, GCP, or similar.
• Passion for open source and staying abreast of community developments.

The engineering manager role at Box involves spearheading significant technology initiatives, overseeing the entire lifecycle of projects across multiple architectural layers. • The Filesystem team is the backbone of the Box platform - not just a file system, but the core service powering nearly every Box feature. It supports content access for internal and external clients, serving millions of users and tens of thousands of businesses, including most of the Fortune 500. Operating at millions of requests per second, it secures hundreds of billions of content items with an advanced permissions system and enables the collaboration features that define Box. As Box drives the future of content management, evolving the Filesystem is critical to that vision.
• The Search & Query team is core to the Box Content Cloud, helping users organize and find critical content. The Query Infra team powers these capabilities across products like Box Hubs, Apps, and Relay - handling massive scale and complexity daily. With the rise of generative AI, this area is more important than ever. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a talented, fun team tackling tough problems and shaping the future of intelligent content management. Your work will directly impact millions of users at top global enterprises.
• Storage Platform team designs and maintains core services that form the first line of interaction between various protocols (like FTP uploads or email uploads) and Box’s content API stack. Their work directly impacts user experience by managing critical data ingress/egress flows at scale. This team plays essential role in shaping Box’s future by delivering high-performance distributed systems deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring security and reliability throughout the entire content lifecycle.
