DSL Hitting Coach

Job Description:

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Execute the Mets' organizational hitting philosophy and implement individualized hitting development plans.

• Contribute to daily practice planning in conjunction with the Lead Hitting Coach, ensuring each hitter receives tailored and productive environments.

• Provide daily on-field hitting instruction, including batting practice, drill design, and feedback sessions.

• Utilize relevant technology (Blast Motion, Trackman, HitTrax, high-speed video, Hawk-Eye, Kinatrax) to monitor progress and provide actionable insights.

• Collaborate with Performance, Baseball Analytics, and Baseball Systems staff to integrate physical, mental, and skill development.

• Track and document each hitter's developmental progress, ensuring consistency with organizational standards.

• Provide consistent communication with the Lead Hitting Coach and Player Development department regarding player needs and progress.

• Assist in the setup and daily execution of hitting environments that address player deficiencies and support long-term growth.

• Foster strong professional relationships with players to build trust, buy-in, and accountability.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working with hitters in a professional organization, collegiate program, or high-level training facility.

• Ability to throw batting practice, hit fungoes, and facilitate structured baseball practice.

• Experience with hitting-related technology (Blast, Trackman, HitTrax, high-speed video, Hawk-Eye, Kinatrax).

• Strong ability to communicate clearly with players and staff across Player Development.

• Mindset/desire to learn from affiliate staff and integrate feedback from coordinators.

• Spanish fluency OR strong desire to learn and use basic language skills to communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Conversational Spanish proficiency to facilitate direct communication with Spanish-speaking players and staff.

• Technical proficiency with data analysis tools (SQL, R, Python, etc.).

• Strong foundation in one or more relevant fields (biomechanics, motor learning, sports psychology, skill acquisition).

• Demonstrated ability to innovate and integrate evidence-informed methods in coaching.
