We're looking for a Team Manager for our Data Extraction Team

The Data Extraction team sits at the heart of Similarweb's data acquisition - driving a direct, visible impact on our company and products. As team manager, you'll lead a squad of Backend/Data Engineers who own some of our most valuable datasets. From large-scale web scraping and smart API integrations to strategic data partnerships, you'll oversee the entire journey: capturing data, turning it into production-ready assets, and delivering it to the teams who rely on it. You'll dive into massive datasets, work with teams across the company, and see the results of your work come to life every single day.

Tech stack:

  • AWS cloud - (s3, ec2, sqs, firehose, lambda, iam)
  • Microservices on Kubernetes
  • Spark on Databricks, datalakes
  • Airflow
  • Coding mostly in Python (and a bit of Go)
What you will do:
  • Lead a Growing Team: Manage and prioritize the work of the engineers in your team, assigning them to different projects and deliveries. 
  • Design Data Pipelines: Engineer data pipelines using state-of-the-art technologies. 
  • Analyze Requirements: Collaborate with product managers and other teams to analyze product requirements and plan roadmaps.
  • Hands-on Involvement: Actively participate in your team's projects.
  • Innovate: Engage in thinking groups, create innovative POCs, and discover new technologies and data sources.
  • Communicate: Represent your team's datasets and capabilities to other stakeholders in the company.
  • Develop Skills: Mentor and provide feedback to help your team members develop their skills and career paths at Similarweb. 
 
What We're Looking For:
  • Backend Development Experience: 5+ years of experience in software backend development using big-data technologies (e.g. MapReduce, Spark, Hive, etc).
  • Project Leadership: 2+ years of experience leading data engineering projects.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.
