Technical Leadership in DevOps and SRE

Overview:

The role of a DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Team Lead involves overseeing both the technical development and team leadership aspects of embedded SRE initiatives. In this hybrid position, you will play a key part in driving technology transformation and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of complex systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers by setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting career growth.
  • Ensure clear communication between your team and the broader organization.
  • Monitor production systems and lead incident resolution, troubleshooting, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Oversee onboarding and mentorship of new team members.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals.
  • Establish best practices and standards for software deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management.
  • Contribute technically to infrastructure architecture, service design, and automation.
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Concourse.
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform and AWS.
  • Improve observability, performance, and fault tolerance across systems.
  • Coordinate with Agile teams, participate in sprint ceremonies, and support delivery planning.
  • Identify opportunities for tooling and process improvement within the DevOps and software delivery domains.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional experience in DevOps or SRE roles.
  • 1+ year of experience in a technical leadership or team management role.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Proficient in working in Linux-based environments.
  • Understanding of network protocols and security best practices.
  • Experience leading distributed teams and collaborating across departments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, and ownership mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Go programming.
  • Broader background in software engineering, including architecture and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with modern API standards and data exchange formats (HTTP/1.1, RESTful API, etc.).
  • Prior involvement in cloud-native transformations or delivery standardization projects.
