What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Good written and verbal communications skills, very good English.
- Able to articulate a clear understanding of event-driven architecture patterns.
- A strong grasp of functional, non-blocking, asynchronous code.
- Security software related experience is desired.
- Hands on experience with AWS.
- Performance testing knowledge is a bonus.
- Prior experience of Istio, Kubernetes is desirable but not essential.
- Experience securing APIs at scale would be beneficial.

The Foundation Engineering Platform, PaaS team provides products and services that strive to improve the efficiency of HSBC. Our goal is to help HSBC teams deliver cost-effective journeys securely, provide complete development platforms and tools. Our attention to detail needs to be excellent as should our ability to assess ‘the bigger picture’. We are looking for an accomplished Senior Software Engineer to contribute to these goals.
The role is a hands-on development role foremost, delivering security services and libraries to address recognised cross cutting capabilities. Their contributions are expected to exemplify the high standards we help define.
