The Position
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Product Manager with deep expertise in High-Performance Computing (HPC) to lead the development of cutting-edge HPC solutions tailored for Bio-Pharma research. This role demands a strong techno-scientific background combined with proven leadership and people management skills. You will drive the delivery of scalable, high-impact HPC products that accelerate scientific discovery, leveraging AWS compute and storage technologies to meet and exceed client needs. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and manage cross-functional teams will be critical to our success.
What will you do?
- Define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for HPC products that support Bio-Pharma research workflows, ensuring alignment with scientific goals and business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with research scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and translate complex computational needs into clear product specifications.
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation through delivery, ensuring scalable, reliable, and cost-effective HPC solutions leveraging AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
- Present product strategies, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership and cross-functional teams, fostering transparency and alignment.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including HPC engineers, cloud specialists to deliver high-impact HPC products on schedule and within scope.
- Mentor and support team members' professional growth, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with enterprise architecture and engineering leadership to ensure technical feasibility, quality standards, and best practices are integrated into product development.
- Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and research stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of product capabilities, timelines, and trade-offs.
- Facilitate agile product development processes including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and iterative feedback loops to continuously refine HPC solutions.
- Manage expectations and negotiate priorities among diverse stakeholders, balancing scientific innovation with operational constraints.
- Monitor product performance, usage metrics, and customer feedback to drive data-informed decisions and continuous product enhancements.
- Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to manage budgets, optimize cloud resource allocation, and ensure cost-effective HPC operations.
- Lead capacity planning and technology evaluation to anticipate future research demands and incorporate emerging HPC technologies.
- Stay abreast of advancements in HPC, cloud computing, AI/ML, and scientific research tools to identify opportunities for product innovation.
- Champion adoption of new technologies and methodologies that enhance product capabilities and user experience in scientific computing environments.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred
- Proven experience (5+ years) in technical product management or leadership roles within HPC, cloud computing, or scientific research domains
- Strong technical background with understanding of HPC architectures, cloud platforms (especially AWS), and scientific computing workflows
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and deliver scalable technical products
- Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with agile methodologies and product lifecycle management
- Strong analytical skills to assess product performance, user needs, and market trends
Nice to have
- Familiarity with scientific HPC applications (e.g., Gaussian, Grace) and container technologies (Singularity, Apptainer)
- Experience with GPU-enabled HPC clusters and AI/ML workloads in research contexts
- Knowledge of HPC job schedulers (PBS, Slurm) and workflow management tools (Nextflow)
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, HPC Specialty) or equivalent cloud credentials
- Experience managing cloud budgets and optimizing resource allocation for HPC infrastructure
