Company Overview

Flamestone is a company specialising in sustainable energy projects, with a particular focus on converting biogas into BioLNG and BioCO₂. As we continue to expand our operations and scale our Czech division, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Biogas Production Director for Biogas Production to support our technical leadership team.

This role will be central to evaluating, selecting, and optimising biogas plants, with a strong focus on increasing manure-based feedstock integration and preparing facilities for BioLNG technology. The successful candidate will combine expertise in anaerobic digestion and process optimisation with hands-on leadership to ensure stable operations, efficient modernisations, and strong partnerships with plant operators.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Project Preparation

• Assist with the technical due diligence of multiple biogas plants, assessing lifespan, technical condition, and potential for manure-based feedstock (cattle, pig, poultry).
• Visit biogas plants with team members to evaluate and identify the most suitable partners.
• Provide technical input on feedstock compatibility, process stability, and necessary modernisations.
• Propose technological solutions to support an increased ratio of predominantly manure and other low-carbon substrates in the digestion process.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to design reconstruction plans, select equipment, and define optimal budgets.
• Support financial and strategic assessments by linking technical findings to overall project viability.

Implementation & Operations

• Oversee increased manure feeding at selected plants and monitor biological stability, foaming, ammonia inhibition, and gas yields.
• Carry out biological monitoring (pH, VFA/TAC, NH₃, methane yields) and recommend additives to optimise digestion; liaise with external labs when required.
• Supervise the installation and commissioning of new equipment & modernisation works.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with plant operators, supporting daily operations, troubleshooting, and technical optimisation to ensure smooth operations.
• Work closely with in-house and external specialists (LNG engineers, feedstock logistics, sales/trading teams) to ensure efficient integration of BioLNG technology.
• Contribute to long-term operational stability across multiple sites through technical oversight and performance monitoring.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Technology, or related technical field.
• Solid experience in anaerobic digestion, biogas production, or related renewable energy sectors.
• Knowledge of manure-based feedstock integration and digestion process optimisation.
• Experience with equipment selection, technical due diligence and project implementation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex technical projects.
• Strong communication skills in Czech and English (German is an advantage).
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Experience with biogas plant modernisations and integration of new technologies (e.g. biomethane, BioCNG and BioLNG).
• Familiarity with EU and Czech regulations around biogas, waste, and renewable energy.
• Hands-on experience with biological monitoring and process troubleshooting.
• Previous leadership or deputy management experience within a technical environment.
• Knowledge of additional languages (German, Ukrainian, or Russian) is an advantage.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors and international suppliers.
