DP World , the fast-growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking a dedicated Ocean Freight Specialist to join our growing Freight Forwarding office in Prague, Czech Republic .
Your Responsibilities:
- Leading the full coordination of Ocean Freight operations , from import/export planning to customs clearance, ensuring shipments move smoothly across borders and modes (sea, rail, road).
- Communicating daily with ocean carriers , shipping lines, trucking companies, and logistics partners, negotiating competitive rates and securing optimal space for your clients' cargo.
- Managing all operational documentation —from Bills of Lading to customs forms—keeping files audit-ready, accurate, and compliant with international regulations.
- Staying on top of vessel schedules and delivery timelines , proactively updating clients and swiftly addressing delays or discrepancies.
- Preparing and issuing detailed and competitive transport quotations , using your market knowledge and pricing insight to optimize cost and value.
- Being a trusted point of contact for clients , assisting with documentation needs, resolving concerns, and delivering top-tier customer care with empathy and clarity.
- Handling special cargo with confidence , including hazardous or restricted goods, ensuring safety and compliance every step of the way.
- Using TMS and tracking systems to manage shipments in real time, maintain transparency, and empower your clients with up-to-date insights.
- Supporting continuous improvement efforts , identifying ways to streamline operations, cut costs, and enhance service delivery through innovative thinking.
- Collaborating across departments —from sales and finance to customs and warehousing—to make sure each shipment is supported from start to finish.
- Ensuring accurate and timely invoicing , monitoring profit margins, and managing file closures in line with KPIs and company standards.
- Bringing your voice to the table —share operational feedback, market trends, and customer insights to help shape solutions that are smarter and more effective.
Your profile:
- Completed secondary education. If you've gone further and obtained a university degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field , that's a definite plus.
- A solid understanding of the freight forwarding industry, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in Ocean Freight operations and customer service.
- Confidently navigating international trade regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms, documentation requirements, shipping workflows, and the fine details of cross-border transport.
- Proficiency in working with the Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), and comfortable using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and CRM platforms to keep workflows smooth.
- Fluent in English both in writing and in speaking ; fluency in the Czech and Slovak languages would be preferred.
- You're highly organized , keeping even the most complex shipments on track and on time.
- You excel at multitasking in fast-paced environments , effortlessly switching between priorities without losing focus.
- You bring a solution-oriented mindset , staying calm under pressure and always looking for the most practical path forward.
- You have a strong eye for detail , ensuring that every document, quote, and shipment is accurate and compliant.
- You demonstrate excellent communication skills —written and spoken—with a professional and personable approach that builds trust with clients and partners alike.
- Your negotiation and problem-solving abilities help you deliver value and build long-term relationships .
- You're confident analyzing data and cost figures, spotting patterns, and using insights to guide better decisions.
- You're self-motivated, reliable, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service—even when things don't go exactly to plan.
- You adapt quickly to changing priorities, client needs, or market dynamics, and you embrace continuous learning.
