About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our dynamic PeopleCost Accounting team at Expedia Group. As a key member of our accounting operations team, you will play a critical role in maintaining our financial and management accounting policies, procedures, and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of our company's financial and management accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Develop and maintain a solid knowledge of accounting principles for one discipline, such as GAAP, Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue, or VAT Accounting.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and financial accounting standards, such as IFRS, FASB, or SEC.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain accounting records and data, and perform account reconciliations and sub-ledgers.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of how the department operates and fits into the larger organization.
  • Develop and maintain a solid awareness of the policies, practices, trends, and information that impact the organization and its customers.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of the financial impact of decisions/solutions on the organization and its customers.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of current economic market and financial trends by reviewing industry or trade publications.
  • Assist others in preparing financial statements and reporting data.
  • Develop and maintain a solid knowledge of systems and databases by completing routine responsibilities.
  • Complete activities by using financial systems and technologies.
  • Complete solid quality review checks on data using assigned systems.
  • Utilize resources to complete advanced tasks.
  • Distinguish between advanced activities and tasks that add differing levels of value; begin to determine solid potential improvements to impact quality.
  • Demonstrate solid attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset; double-check accuracy of own output to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Seek relevant information to ensure own understanding of complex information.
  • Assist team members in the creation of routine technical communication materials, such as policies and procedures, guidelines, presentations, and messages.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the different audience groups in the business unit/function that receive technical communications and how they differ from each other.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience for bachelor's degree.
  • 1-2 years for CPA or Local GAAP Chartered Accountants or progress towards CPA.
  • Bachelor's or Master's or CPA in a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
  • Public Accounting experience or industry experience with progressive high technology industry leader a plus.
  • Payroll accounting/People cost accounting a plus.
  • Oracle, Blackline knowledge a plus.
  • US Multi-National experience a plus.
